Hi Everyone,
I've posted a bunch of new projects in the Gallery. They are right at the beginning, so you won't need to search for them.
Check it out!
Tissue Pockets

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to give a heads up that I have recently completed sewing some cute Tissue Pockets.
I know the Moms out there will love these, all Moms need tissues right? I am going to keep several for myself!
When it's cold outside and I go inside, my nose always gets really runny. If I'm on the bus or on the go, I'm always digging in my purse for a wad of tissues I have in there. Not the most appetizing solution, that's for sure!
These tissue pockets allow you to pop a pre-packaged mini pack of tissues inside, or you can fold tissues in half for easy access whenever you need a tissue.
I have 4 styles available, solid (teal or navy) and 2 bright and fun prints (shown in second photo).
These tissue pockets will be listed on melissabearknits.etsy.com soon!

I am still waiting for a correct response to my last "What is this?" post... If I get a correct answer, the winner will receive the tissue pocket of their choice! More photos are available on etsy, see you there!

I'm working on a lot of fun things, but I can't post much until the items reach their recipients. I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise!
In the meantime, I thought I would post a photo of something that I am slowly working on for myself:

Any idea what this is?
Maybe you could try out the "Contact Me" button at the top left corner of the blog sidebar and tell me what you think it is!
Maybe I will even throw in a prize for the first correct guesser!
Good Luck!
PS. If you are knitter and you know right away what this is, maybe give a day or two for non-knitters to guess. I promise I will have more prizes for you in the future.

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I posted here, on Etsy or on Facebook. As some of you may have noticed, my Etsy site has been closed since before Christmas, while I caught up with orders and regrouped.
You will also notice that I have added a "contact me" button in the top left corner of the sidebar on this page. This is a direct line to me for all your custom knit requests. To inspire you a little, I have created a photo gallery which includes many never-before-seen items I have knit over the past year.
I want to stress, these items are not for sale. They are all long gone (given away mostly, but some were sold as well). These are just to show you what can be done with knitting, and what I can do with knitting.
If you're reading this blog, or this message through facebook, it's because you've expressed interest in what I'm up to with my knitting. If you are inspired by what I've done, please let me know! If you've got an idea for an upcoming gift, please contact me and we can talk about it. If you can imagine it, I can mostly likely create it!
I'm going to leave my etsy site up, with a blank item, to re-direct people to this site, and in case someone wishes to pay through etsy. I can set up reserved sales for anyone who is interested.
In the future this site will be used to show what I am working on and as a way for people to contact me. I do hope to hear from many of you in the coming months, whenever you need something in knit!

It's no secret that I have the creative bug. I love to knit and sew, and over the years have done too many crafty things to even really name (scrapbooking, beading, cross stitch, baking....). I thought that by knitting for others on etsy, I would get my fill and make a little money.
Everyone has been really supportive, but, I guess I'm more of an artist than I realized and it's been hard for me to keep up with orders and still be creative. I know that when someone places an order on etsy, they expect to get what they see. That can be hard if I don't have the exact colour in stock, or if they are ordering a large hat, but the sample is in a small (sizing up doesn't always work as well). I'm a perfectionist, and doing an okay job on things isn't really good enough for me.
I thrive when someone emails me out of the blue and says "can you make .... (fill in the blank)". I get really excited that they thought of me, and I want to start right away, but usually can't because of the backlog of knitting projects I have accumulated (just ask Elizabeth who is waiting for her hat since September!).
Basically, what it comes down to, is that I have a job and a husband and a family and friends and many pets, and I miss them! They've still been around lately (waiting patiently, I'll admit), but not enough . I've not been around enough either.
I hope everyone understands that I've decided to put the etsy site on vacation for a while, maybe for good. This doesn't mean I don't still want to knit for you (I do!). If you're on this website, or part of the facebook group, I will continue to share my projects and my inspirations. I hope that will tempt you (maybe even to start knitting yourself), and inspire you as well.
If you have ideas for custom knits, please do contact me and we can work together to come up with something great. I started etsy to knit things for family and friends to purchase, and that's what I want to get back to. I can't wait to show you what you can do with knitting. I know it'll be a fun adventure for all of us.
